Some disappointing news for the Star Wars community. The remake of the fan-favorite Knights of the Old Republic has been delayed indefinitely.

The remake would have been of the original Knights of the Old Republic RPG, which was released in 2003. Despite no longer being a part of the canon Star Wars universe, fans still appreciate the game for all of its content.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Indefinitely Delayed

The Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced last September and had been under development for three years.

Aspyr, the company developing the game, had a working demo, or vertical slice, by the end of June. The vertical slice seemed to be a success and it still appeared that the game was on track to release.

Shortly after, design director Brad Prince and art director Jason Minor were fired. There has been no response from the two, but according to Minor, the decision came as a surprise.

According to Aspyr, the game's vertical slice was not where they wanted it to be and that the game's development would be paused. Apparently, there had been too much time and money had been placed into the game's development and the course of the project was no longer sustainable.

There is a chance that Saber, the company working with Aspyr to develop the remake, may take over completely and finish the game. The release date was once aimed for the end of 2022, but now, a realistic timeline appears to be in 2025.
