Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward's follow up to Modern Warfare (2019) was confirmed by Activision as the next Call of Duty title back on April 28. The logo features similar themes from MW 2019 with the M and W, but with green themes highlighting the Roman numeral for two. We now have box artwork and a release date to pair with the upcoming COD release.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date Announced, Artwork Revealed, Possible Reveal Date
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will officially launch Oct. 28. Alongside the release date reveal, there's more to take away from the announcement. Activision released a promotional video of a cargo ship with clues scattered throughout before revealing the artwork.
The box art features Simon "Ghost" Riley with neon green, or night vision green, themes and the logo at the top. Most fans would agree this is one of the best looking box arts in Call of Duty history.
The biggest clue in the video was a graphic pictured on a shipping container that reads J - 8 - 22. Most expect this to be a reveal date hint after it was previously leaked that Modern Warfare 2 would be revealed in June.
Tom Henderson reported that the game would be revealed in early June ahead of Summer Games Fest. With Summer Games Fest set to kick off June 9, and this new hint in the video, June 8 seems certain to be the date.
